Look What We Found

We tackled another house project today and were excited with what we found. When we moved in, a neighbor pointed out from outside that behind the pine above our fireplace were windows. Today my dad removed the pine and we found leaded windows with beautiful gumwood trim (not painted!). Here are the before and after shots:
We still need to fix the trim around them (and by we I mean my dad). I wish the rest of the gumwood was unpainted like this.

Wow! Somebody covered those up?
That's amazing.

Isn't that crazy! The only reason I can think of is that our neighbors have a side porch that faces the windows. But you'd have to stand on your tip-toes to see in or out. I so wish all of the trim in our house looked like those windows.
How insane to cover those beauties and how awesome to discover them! It probably happened during the era when people painted over any wood, too. Happy renovating to you.

I agree, someone would have to be insane to cover them up... not to mention with wood paneling.

Who would cover up windows?
It reminds me of the malcolm in the middle episode where they discovered they had another bathroom hidden behind some of their stuff

It's great that you discovered them. How did you discover them?
Incredible!

The previous homeowners here, too, did things that made us scratch our heads. I wish we could ask them why they did (or didn't do) what they did.

Gorgeous windows!

Noelle, when we moved in our next door neighbor said, "Hey, do you know you have two windows covered up over here?" We had no idea.
Whoa! That is freaky! That is like that show on A&E I think, where these people buy their house and find things from years and years ago lol. Freaky, but pretty neat at the same time lol.
Wow, that's just crazy! I'm with evyerone else in not understanding why someone would cover those up.
