My heart squeezed my chest. I swear, at this age, I'll soon join my dear wife Gladys in her grave.
Did I really miss them good old days when I could actually see my feet? When I could chase down those no good thieves from old man Chin's pawn shop? When I could chug a gallon of milk in five minutes along with a dozen Krispie Kremes for a lousy ten?
I panted my way to my beat up old sofa, and laughed at the cat's defiant stare.
"Yeah, Mittens, you better get outta my way--you and your buddies." I stare it down. "Stupid cat," I mutter under my breath.
If it wasn't for Gladys's love of cats, I would've fed all ten to Spike ages ago.
(I love this, Lisa! I hope you don't mind if I steal your writing prompts ideas for my blog! I'd LOVE to hear your writing, too!)
