What are some of your favorite novels?
I only recently got into reading YA novels (except for when I was young). I'm having so much fun finding ones to read. So far I've read two of Ellen Hopkins' (I had to take a break from those because they get depressing). Now I'm reading a Lauren Myracle one and have a few others lined up.
What are your favorites?
I’m a fun-loving foster and adoptive mom juggling a teenager, a tween, and a toddler, all while navigating the wild world of homeschooling. I recently took the plunge and moved to a new state without ever setting foot there—talk about an adventure! This is my real-life story, filled with chaos and joy. My mission? To swap out traditional products and pharmaceuticals for healthier, natural options for my family. Oh, and I really miss writing, so I'm excited to weave that back into my life!

We Did Something Crazy
A little over three weeks ago, we packed up a moving truck and closed the door to our New York house for the last time. We spent the night ...

I used to be so afraid of writing something horrible, that I wouldn't write anything at all. I'd have a half-hour or so to myself ...

The absolute worst part about being a writer for me is grammar and punctuation. With every post I put up, every email I send and every story...

I went to #30 school for first grade. Every morning I walked by myself down Otis Street to the school. There were always a bunch of kids out...

I've been a real fan of Ally Carter and her Gallagher Girls series so I picked up a copy of her newest book 'Heist Society' and finished it a few days ago. I've also really been into reading the Morganville Vampires Series by Rachel Caine. They have the ability to just suck you into the story and keep you there...I love that! :)
Yes, Ally Carter is good. Right now I'm reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, and it's a page turner for sure!
Oh, and The Hunger Games are a MUST read.
I read a lot of YA, there’s so really great stuff out there. Sarah Dessen, Sara Zarr and Elizabeth Scott all tackle heavy issues in an honest and uplifting ways. If you want something lighter and funnier you can’t go wrong with Jake Wizner, Jennifer Ziegler, or David Lubar. On the YA paranormal side of things, I enjoyed the Vladimir Tod series (Heather Brewer) and Once Dead, Twice Shy (Kim Harrison), and Wings (Aprilynne Pike).
Happy Reading
Thanks for all the great books! I can't wait to check them out.
I've recently started reading YA and have LOVED the books I've found so far.
Right now I'm reading FADE by Lisa McMann, the second in a trilogy (WAKE, FADE, GONE) and they are AWESOME. I also read Uglies by Scott something or other -- the first in a series. Also, I just finished Audrey, Wait! by Robin something and laughed out loud like every third page. LOVED them.
I'm reading THE HANDMAID'S TALE. I'm not sure what it is classified, but teen isn't allowed to read it for a few years. I kept seeing it sighted by agents and in books, so I decided to give it a whirl. It's wild. I thought it was in a concentration camp somewhere during WWII. Then I realized it was in the future. Then I realized it was in the US. It has amazing details, ones that disgusted and overwhelmed me. And (and I never start a sentence with and) I can't wait until it's time to go to bed so I can read some more of it!
Mel, I just got Wake and can't wait to get into it. I have a big stack of YA to read!
My very favorite novel is The Perilous Gard by Elizabeth Marie Pope. I first read it in grade school when I found it in the young adults section of my local library in PA. LOVED it so much that when the library finally took it off their shelves and put it in their booksale while I was in college, my younger sister, knowing how much i loved the book, bought it for me. I was so glad she picked it up because I seriously checked that book out of the library every break I was home from college and before college, at least once every two or three months.
